Mrs. Maud Smith of Tutela P.O., was today notified that her husband Private Benjamin Smith had been wounded on September 27 and had received a gunshot wound in the left shoulder.

Benjamin Smith

Benjamin Smith, 156 Eagle Avenue, passed away on Tuesday in the Brantford General Hospital, in his 54th year.  The deceased was an adherent of the Salvation Army and had been a resident of Brantford for the past 25 years, being employed during that time as an assembler at the Cockshutt Plow Company.  He leaves to mourn his loss his sorrowing widow, one daughter Doris at home, and two sons, Arthur B. in Detroit and Gordon at home.  The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon with interment in Mount Hope Cemetery.

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon of the late Benjamin Smith from the residence, 156 Eagle Avenue, with interment in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Services were conducted at the home and graveside by Major Wright, Toronto, Brigadier McDonald, Toronto, and Adjutant Kettle, Brantford, all of the Salvation Army. The pallbearers were J. Davis and J. Noakes of the Salvation Army, J.T. Farr and T. Patterson, representing the Cockshutt Plow Co., and E. Mulholland, L. Brock of the Canadian Order of Foresters.
