BX October 8, 1918

Mr. Charles Melligan, 123 West Mill Street, was today advised that his son, Private Augustus Melligan, had received a gunshot wound in the left hand and had been admitted to the 22nd General Hospital September 28. Pte. Melligan is the second son to have been wounded out of four, one of whom John Melligan, made the extreme sacrifice seven months ago.

MELLIGAN, Augustus George (Gus) – At the Brantford General Hospital, Monday April 24, 1972, Augustus George (Gus) Melligan, in his 74th year, beloved husband of Jennie Avey Melligan, 123 Superior Street; dear father of Mrs. John Williams (Dorace), California, Edgar Melligan, Brantford, Mrs. James Noakes (Jean) Florida, Mrs. Glen Dale (Marion), London; brother of Mrs. Donald Charters (Annie), Brantford, Mrs. Ettie Kennedy, Hamilton; 16 grandchildren; predeceased by two sons, Harold in 1925 and Jack in 1965, Mr. Melligan was a veteran of the First World War, 125th Battalion, a member of Branch 90 Royal Canadian Legion, and Local 397 retired employees union.  Resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home, 96 West Street.  Funeral Thursday April 27, at 11 a.m. to St. Basil’s Church for requiem mass at 11.30 a.m.  Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited by St. Basil’s Council of the Catholic Women’s League Wednesday at 4 p.m. and the parish at 8 p.m.
