Pte. Ernest Walsh Has Been Wounded – Was Member of Dufferin Rifles Contingent and Resided at 227 West Mill

This morning’s casualty list contains the name of four Brant County men who have been wounded in action. In addition to Major A.M. Ashton and Archibald McIntyre of whom mention was made in yesterday’s Expositor, Ernest Walsh, Brantford, Ont., and Alfred Hanlon, Paris, Ont. are officially reported wounded.

Ernest Walsh is a Canadian by birth, joined the 38th Dufferin Rifles contingent on August 24, 1915. He is a married man 35 years of age and previous to leaving for overseas lived with his family at 227 West Mill Street.

HANLON, Alfred – At the Willett Hospital, Paris, on Monday, January 28, 1980, in his 88th year, Alfred Hanlon of Washington Street, Paris; dearly beloved husband of Marie Bean; dear father of James A. of Toronto and Roy W. of Grand Bend; brother of Mrs. Wilbur (Marie) Fulton of Kitchener; two grandchildren also survive.  Predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth, Florence and Maude; brothers, William, Jack, Robert and David.  Veteran of the First World War and H.L.I.., Second World War, life member of H.L.I. Association and life member of Branch 29, Royal Canadian Legion, Paris.  Resting at the William Kipp Funeral Home, 184 Grand River Street North, Paris, from Tuesday afternoon.  Other arrangements are incomplete.
