Alfred Groves

GROVES – At the John Noble Home on Saturday, September 4, 1976, Alfred Groves Sr., (retired employee of Koehring-Waterous) in his 82nd year; husband of Isabelle Maude Beckett; predeceased by his first wife, Catherine Beckett; dear father of Alfred Jr., Edward, Duncan and Walter all of St. Catharines, David of Brantford, Mrs. William (Catherine) Firth, Mrs. Clayton (Elsie) Spooner, both of Burford, and the late Bernie.  Also survived by 30 grandchildren.  Predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  Mr. Groves was a veteran of the First World War, serving with the 125th Battalion; a member of Branch 90, Royal Canadian Legion.  Resting at Hill and Robinson Ltd., Funeral Home, Nelson and Queen Streets, from 7 o’clock Sunday evening, until Tuesday.  Service in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.  Major Earl Birt officiating.
