BX February 16, 1940

Alexander Scott Dow

The death of Alexander Dow, husband of Barbara Rennie, took place Friday morning at his home, 18 Salisbury Avenue, in his sixty-second year.  Mr. Dow was born in Scotland and was a resident of Brantford for thirty years.  While in this city he was employed at the Cockshutt Plow Company and was a member of Alexandra Presbyterian Church.  He served overseas in the last Great War with the 125th Battalion.  Besides his sorrowing widow he leaves to mourn his loss three sons, George, Andre and Alexander, Jr., and three daughters, Mrs. John Powell, Mrs. Wesley Cantlon, and Miss Barbara, all of Brantford; one brother, George Dow, Detroit, Mich.; and one sister, Mrs. Daniel Logan, Detroit, Mich.  Mr. Dow will rest at his residence from Saturday until Monday morning.  Service will be held Monday afternoon from Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home with interment in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Alexander Scott Dow

A large gathering of friends attended the funeral of Alexander Scott Dow conducted Monday afternoon from Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home, West Street.  Rev. E.C. McCullagh, Minister of Alexandra Presbyterian Church, was in charge of the service at the home and at the graveside.  The pallbearers were Jack Steen, Walter Rolland, J. Frank, Andrew Fotheringham, Jim Fotheringham and Bob Robb.  Beautiful floral tributes were received.  Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery.  The deceased leaves to mourn his loss his widow, three sons, George, Andrew and Alexander, Jr., and three daughters, Mrs. John Powell, Mrs. Wesley Cantlon and Miss Barbara, all of Brantford, two brothers, George Dow, Detroit, Michigan, John Dow, England, four sisters, Mrs. Daniel Logan, Detroit, Michigan and Mrs. James Ross, Mrs. Samuel Kerr and Mrs. Duncan Mason, all of Scotland.
